First Day of school at SIM
ahh...Today's was my first day at SIM's UOL in Accounting and Finance. I got up so so early at 6.30am and went to meet my friend at the tables outside the LT1.10 for breakfast..haha! It was my first lesson, PBF. Wow!! That lesson was really overwhelming!! Gotta read up more, and research, and get those references.
After lecture, I went with BaoLing and her friend Caren to meet up with YangTheng, SinWee and EC Jason. haha!! We had lunch at Ngee Ann Poly instead, as the food courts were just to packed with humanity. hahas. We were teasing one another at lunch, especially EC Jason. hahas. Head a great time there. After which, we went to the Tay Eng Soon library to get our references to read up on. wow!! The whole bunch of kiasu S'poreans, except silly Jason. tsk tsk..
I'm so sad that i got to give tuition that afternoon, just before Taekwondo trainings began. hmph.. Now i'm so tired after the whole day's of activities. tsk tsk..too high on Cafeine too. Cafeine causes cancer, but it also as well stimulates brain cell growth in memory. whatever..
But i've learnt to trust God in everything i do!! Be it in studies, entrust it to God and do my best in researching so that i won't know nothing..tsk tsk. And trust that He will provide for my finances in school. yay!!

Last Night's CMs District Gathering!! [28th July 2006]
Heys!! Last night's District Gathering was so cool and warm!! All the different sections of CMs came together in bonding relationships. We have the worship team, the drama, the multimedia and the RGB. I was so excited the moment I went into the auditorium to touch up some of the deco stuff. Even then, I got to know several other ones from the drama. And they are really nice people, though I use to think that they are aloof. But they are not lah. As the whole ceremony begins, Nicky and Ivy sat by the door welcoming the people in, with their naughty speech "Welcome to Paul David's Pre-Wedding ceremony! Are you on the groom's side or on the bride's side?". Hahahahaha.. Then Jennifer Gan began to ask who's the bride. And guess what Nicky said? She said: "Mrs Paul David!". hahaha... Oh my..this is so silly. As the different people came, we got them to write their names on a sticker and most of them decorate it fantastically, follow which, each of them receive a colored string(for the games later).
As more people entered, we started finding seats at a specific table. The 4 of us were so silly and frickled-minded(like what PsBea said). We actually decided to sit at the front row, later we decided to move to the back, then we decided to stay at the front...guess what? In the end, we sat by the corner!! haha.. There were we, the only 4 freshies sitting together. Till some people came over to join us.
As the whole ceremony began, we have people sharing their different testimonies, such as Sister Adeline on her fulfilling trip to UK EC with PsBea and another Brother sharing about how God saved him from the disaster at Malaysia.
After which, we had a warming up of games, followed by food!!! It was a great buffet. And there was chendo for desert!! yay!! haha.. We were even interacting and joking while queuing at the different buffets. It's all about Staying Connected mah..
After our meals, we have a birthday celebration for all the July babies! haha.. That's so cool can. The last games of all was the most exciting yet thrilling game of all. We had pieces of pictures which belongs to a particular set of photo, and we had to piece them altogether onto a piece of mahjong paper. What's thrilling was that the pieces of pictures given to us was not complete, and we have extra pieces which doesn't belong to the particular picture. So we had to move from our table to other tables to exchange with them the other pieces. haha.. Everyone were so frantically moving from one end to the other. But alas, we got our final piece ready! phew.. but we weren't the 1st of course.
Anyway, after the games, PsBea shared a really really SHORT message with us. It's on Romans 16, and Philippians 2:1-4. Yep, and we then gathered in our cells and prayed unitedly. hehe.. And we have our cell pictures taken!! hooray!! hope I do look pretty as usual in there. Hahaha..
The whole of DG tells me one thing. Like what the theme says, "Staying Connected". We should stay bonded with AGAPE Love within the Body of Christ! Amen!!

Finance
Being in a fast-paced city like Singapore, it's really non-oblivious that money matters can be very crucial. The stereotypic city judges the fellow citizens into classes-the lower income group, the middle-income group, the upper-income group. These classes can also be further narrowed into people staying in a Bungalow, Interior Terrace, Corner Terrace, Condominium, Semi-D, and the HDB flat; the landed property versus the government housing property. If your child happens to be from a family staying on a landed property and of a upper-income group, then it won't be surprising that he or she grows up to be a graduate and meddle into business and entreprenuership, perform his or her music talent in art festivals. However, when a child from the poorer background, staying in perhaps only a 3-room HDB flat, grows up to be an entreprenuer, a CEO, a performer, it becomes a spectacular highlight. Why is this so?
There was once as i was wondering why God did not provide everyone equally..why are some richer and some living in poverty? Why are not everyone equally rich? As i was wondering, i recalled a verse from the book of Matthew:
"Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these will be given to you as well." -Matthew6:33
Hallejulah!! How timely this verse came to me! Have you ever heard someone suggesting that if you trust Jesus, He'll solve all your problems and you'll float through life with riches and peace?
Then why is it that tragedy strikes Christians with the same blunt force that it strikes the most antagonistic atheists? Why are we not exempted from the natural disasters, illnesses, financial difficulty?
Ponder..ponder. Somehow, in God's perfect way of making things work out, our troubles can advance His kingdom and purposes. Our task is to glorify God, no matter what the circumstances are.
Firstly, the economy of God does not equates to the economy of the worldly realm. Financial prosperity is a Promise of God.
"For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you.." -Jeremiah 29:11
There are also other verses like Genesis 32:12, Genesis 24:21, Joshua 1:8.
Secondly, it's the ability of God that produces wealth. No matter how hard we work, if God doesn't provides, we can't have wealth. So don't allow pride to rob you off your wealth. "All glory unto Him and He only".
However, there are some principles we can follow towards Financial Prosperity. Obedience: This starts with the reading of His Word.
"Don't not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you maybe careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be PROSPEROUS and successful." -Joshua1:8
It's only in His Word that we learn how to obey, and indeed we are meant to be Prosperous. This need not has to be in money-matters, but also in life! Life abundantly.
Diligence: Break off any procrastination and start working hard.
"Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth." -Proverbs10:4
Priorities: Know what is most important and needed. Do you work hard for material needs?
"Give careful thoughts to your ways" -Haggai1:5 and Haggai 1:7
The same verse is repeated not by coincidence. It's to emphasize the importance of it.
Christians don't have to live in poverty. For He has planned to prosper us! But why are some still living in that condition? Christianity is not the key to end all sufferings in life, for in life you'll have trouble, and our reliance is in Him. Firstly, it maybe a generational curse, or God wants to use this as a blessings to others, or a wildnerness test. But i believe that His ways are perfect yes and Amen!

Fellowship
Last evening's Taekwondo training was really TOUGH!!! I ended up with blisters, cuts, and a 'broken nail" !!! ahhh... But i like it, oops. Because the muscles are on the way!! Which means my 6 packs are on my way. That's good, far too good for a petite woman like me=)
Last night was the 1st night i went with the seniors to King Albert's Park Macs (which is my favorite hunt; the place i use to go to whenever i skip lessons in JC..oops). Wow! Uni guys are really far more matured and wiser than those in secondary schools and JC(oops...like ppl from my classes). The fellowship we had last night, even it was only a short one, tells me of one thing! Man are made for relationships!
A pastor once told us before to explore the chinese character "ren", which means people. The character is written with 2 strokes, without any coincidence. It means that man had to rely on one another, just like how it is written. No one can say that i don't need any friends nor family.
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." -Proverbs 17:17

When I am afraid..... [26th July 2006]
I've a very sweet cell mate from CMs who was looking through her stuff and saw this pamplet entitled "When I am afraid..." and she gave it to me the following day. I felt so touched when i received it. So i read it almost immediately after we had Practice that Friday night at church. While i was waiting for people like Rachael and MinMin to slowly munch their food outside DL and Leroy to get his baptism photos, i read the pamplet word for word. I realised one thing, the verses written were all very familiar. I've read all of these verses before. Till last night, which is 4days later, as i could not get to sleep..though i was really exhausted from a whole day's of work. I decided to read His Word then. Then i saw the pamplet once again, this time i chose to read the section on "In distress, God will comfort". Immediately, a verse caught me! Here it is:
"O God...when i'm afraid, i'll trust in You" -Psalms56:1,3
Hey, it takes real courage to say that. Hence, i was brought to read the whole of Psalms56. Then another verse struck me!
"In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?" -Psalms56:4
Heh, that's exactly my point! What can earthly humanity do to me? They can never strip me off the Love that God has given, and neither can they destroy my destiny! If God is for us, who can be against us? Amen! That night i slept really sweetly=)

God has changed my life!!
I've just joined Taekwondo for a week, and my body starts aching all over. But there are muscles coming along the way..hehe. It teaches me to be firm and more confident, and also in order to master a certain move there gotta be perseverence. It seems silly to practice at home in the beginning, but at the end of the day, you'll get a hang of it.
The amazing thing is that Taekwondo is my new CCA in my new campus, but i didn't feel too new to fit in, neither did i feel too intimidated by the seniors. God has indeed changed me to become more proactive! In the past, it'll always be the others who take the first step to befriend me. But now, i'm the one making the initiative to reachout for friendship=) I'm no longer remaining in my intimidations. However, of course, there are rooms for improvements to groom myself into a more opened person!
This is all because God has placed in me His confidence, that I am the child of God. The love He gives surpasses all fears, but brings strength and joy!
"When I think about the Heavens, the moon and all the stars, i wondered what You ever saw in me. But You took me and You loved me, and You've given me a crown, and now i'll praise Your name eternally!!"

Spiritual Checkup
What's a Spiritual Checkup?
Many of us are a little afraid of spiritual checkups. After all, if we check our spirit too closely, we might have to change a habit or two. We might need something like an "attitude-ectomy".
I suggest that we get over our reluctance. With God's guidance, let's undergo a spiritual checkup, using Proverbs 4:20-27 as a checklist.
EARS(vs20): Are we hearing God's Word clearly and with understanding? Are we doing what those words tell us?
EYES(vs21,25): Are we keeping our eyes on the teaching that will guide us toward righteousness?
HEART(vs23): Are we protecting our heart from evil?
TONGUE(vs24): Is our mouth clean and pure?
FEET(vs26): Are we walking straight toward God's truth without wavering?
How did you do on your examination? Are there areas where you need to take action? Regular checkups will help to restore your spiritual vitality.
"Examine me, O Lord." -Psalms 26:2

The Colors in our Lives
As I was looking into a webpage, I found several interesting things about colors. There are not only several names of severaal different colors, in fact they have many different shades of their original colors. You may wanna look into them at the link below:
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_colornames.asp
However, the more interesting issue about the colors is the meaning that lies under each color. Of course, you can look into the following links for further details:
http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/colorpsych.htm
http://www.pantone.com/products/products.asp?idArticle=112&idArea=16
Let me show all of you some of the underlyings of certain colors, just to stir up your interest.
Black
Black is the color of authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Some fashion experts say a woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula, often wear black.
White
Brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity. White reflects light and is considered a summer color. White is popular in decorating and in fashion because it is light, neutral, and goes with everything. However, white shows dirt and is therefore more difficult to keep clean than other colors. Doctors and nurses wear white to imply sterility.
Red
The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention.
The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.
Blue
The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms.
Green
Currently the most popular decorating color, green symbolizes nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. However, seamstresses often refuse to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad luck.
Yellow
Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism
Purple
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare in nature, purple can appear artificial.
Brown
Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is one of their favorite colors.
Haha, after seeing some of the psychological backgrounds of the certain colors, don't you find that they are now more than colors itself?
Life has full of colors. They represents our very mood, our very present situation. Color is a reliable element to test our feelings. You will be surprised as you click onto some of the given links, and find that some of the colors actually describes you!
Have fun! Enjoy life!

God And Freedom
"Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pastures." -Psalms100:3
We are responsible to God, because He has created us in love. Our body, soul, thoughts, actions are His. As we commit ourselves to living as one of God's people, we're gonna enjoy true freedom.
Freedom here means enjoying the peace of God in our lives as we make certain decisions, do certain things, make speeches, etc. It does not literally means having the freedom to do anything we would like to do, and not having to worry its outcome.
Hence, lift up everything to Him, and we'll find Him our peace.

Taking God At His Word
"Will I really go to Heaven?"
Many believers are still in the wonder, even after coming into repentence and faith to Jesus as their Savior. How can we be assured of our salvation?
Joanie Yoder married to her beloved husband, Billy, whom has gone to be with the Lord. She shared that Billy would often tell about something that happened to him when he was 2 years old. One day he disobediently wandered from home and got lost. When his parents realized that he was missing, they went out searching for him. Finally, to everyone's immense relief, they spotted their tearful boy and carried him safely home. Days later, Billy overheard his mother relater this incident to a visitor. When she reached the part where they went out searching for him, Billy began to relive the story. "Mommy, Mommy!" he sobbed. "Did you ever find me?" Surprised and deeply touched by his doubt, she embraced him and said, "Of course, my child! Don't you remember that happy moment? See, you're with us now, and we'll make sure that you always are." That comforted Billy, because he took her at her word.
The New Testament letter of 1 John was written to give believers the assurance of salvation.
"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life." -1John5:13
That assurance can be yours as you take God at His word.
Christ's work makes us safe; God's Word makes us sure.
